Fort Irwin Celebrates Fall Fest 2026

FORT IRWIN, CA – Fort Irwin will host its annual Community Fall Fest on Saturday, October 3rd, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Jack Rabbit Park. This year, the installation's traditional Oktoberfest celebration has been integrated as a subset of the broader Fall Fest, creating a highly family-friendly environment that expands upon classic festival games and activities.

The evening will feature a wide variety of activities catering to all ages. As an homage to the fall season, the harvest, and the spirit of Thanksgiving, the festival will debut a Fall Fest pumpkin patch where children can pick out their own pumpkins. Families can also enjoy live entertainment from a band, diverse food options, axe throwing, and various contests featuring prizes.

For adult attendees, a dedicated 21-and-over beer garden will capture the traditional spirit of Munich. Mirroring the official start of the festival in Germany, Fort Irwin’s leadership will honor the celebration by tapping the ceremonial first keg at 5:00 PM. Limited-edition commemorative steins will also be available for purchase.

The inclusion of these Oktoberfest traditions serves to honor the deep, historic camaraderie between United States and German forces. The event specifically pays tribute to Fort Irwin's resident 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, which was historically stationed along the Fulda Gap alongside German allies during the Cold War.

The command's key message for the evening is to enjoy family fun, honor this military heritage, and celebrate the culture while drinking responsibly. With Jack Rabbit Park centrally located near the cantonment area, leadership encourages attendees to display their Esprit De Corps by making a safe plan to get home, taking advantage of the easy walking distance to and from the surrounding housing areas.

Fort Irwin’s Directorate of Morale, Welfare, and Recreation is responsible for hosting the event on behalf of the command, reinforcing their ongoing mission to support and enhance the quality of life for all members of the Fort Irwin community.
